PostHeaderIcon Solo Farming Battered Hilt

There’s some info going around that some people farm battered hilt from PoS. If you’re lucky enough to get even one drop in a day, that’s not too bad. It will, however, require a lot of patience if you’re soloing it. Some decide to bring 2 or 3 along with them and farm the skeletons and the mobs. While personally I haven’t tried this yet, I did a little googling myself so you won’t have to.

You can kill all 5 packs of the Skeletal Slaves in about 15mins or less after getting it down. 5 packs of the slaves=30 mobs too loot.

You simply Repent and repeat…..
-Repent the Necrolyte Darkwhisperer
-Adds run to you
-AoE the adds down(6kish hp each)
-Loot them all
-Run out of the instance/zone back in to drop aggro on the Darkwhisperer

The easiest and fastest way to successfully do this without getting aggro from anything else in the instance is to kill 2 of the 5 packs on the left and the other 3 on the right side of the room.

There is a spot on the leftish side if you take the middle ramp down (there are 3 ramps in front of you when entering the instance) that you can kill both packs at the same spot. Other wise you can take the left ramp down and kill 1 of the left packs at a different point in its pating cycle.

The 3 on the right side of the room you do by first kill the pack on the right ramp as you enter. Next you will jump from the top of that right ramp on your mount down to the right over the gap where another pack will pat infront of you. the 3rd and final for that side is just doing the same thing, jump the gap, but move forward and stand on the side of the hill in front of you and wait for the other pack to be in range of repentence.

Using Repentence on the Darkwhisperers buys you enough time to kill all the skeletons, loot them, and run out of the instance before it fades. ALSO don’t worry about aggroing other packs of mobs if the Darkwhisperer is close to them when you Repent, it will not aggro other packs just the skeleton adds the Darkwhisperer is with.

Note: when kill the second 2 packs on the right side you will need to run up the right ramp you jumped from in the first place to get back out of the instance after looting. Just simply stun the Darkwhisperer on the ramp there on your way up and you will be out of shadowbolt range by the time it wears off.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news but the skeletons had the chance to drop the hilt and BOE epics removed as of 12/15/09.

AFAIK the little skeletons no longer have the Battered Hilt on their loot table as of way back in December. However, the two-pack huge skeletons in FoS can be soloed by any decently geared bear who stealths to each pat at about the rate of 4 pats per 15 minutes (mostly time spent stealthing) and then reset the instance after the pats are cleared and repeat.

  • Microwavesafe says:

The hilt was removed from the skeleton slaves loot table in a hotfix.

  • chompers says:

They removed the hilt from the small skeleton packs quite a while ago. Just FYI, in case people decide to start farming the things as you recommend above … cos they’ll be wasting their time if they do.

This would probably be more interesting, if, you know, it worked.

“In light of this change, we are also removing the chance for the Battered Hilt or any other epic item to drop from the Skeletal Slaves in the Pit of Saron. The need to “farm” these creatures for the Battered Hilt should be reduced by our first in-game fix and will no longer result in a chance for epic loot or Battered Hilts.”

    Outdated info is outdated.

I suppose people can still bring 2 or 3 with them to farm further and kill those who drop it.
