Gold Sellers Get Desperate
Eventually, wow players learn how to get massive gold especially with today’s countless gold blogs lying around the internet. After a while, and especially because of a lot of changes in WOTLK, gold isn’t so hard to get anymore compared to Vanilla and Burning Crusade days. Instead of a lack of gold going around, there is a huge excess of gold right now, with some players carrying hundreds of thousands of gold (and some even reach a million).
Gold sellers have their gold prices at the cheapest just to dispose of the stock they have and they advertise like hell to tempt players to stop wasting their time trying to earn gold and just buy them. Below is a screen shot of IGS.com advertising their gold ON AIR.
Clearly they are using hacks to make this possible. Who knows what else their hacks can do within the game?
Now that it is possible to earn thousands of gold without spending too much time farming, gold sellers have their customers getting smaller and smaller. Plus, the number of gold blogs, auction house tips and tricks have been rising and Blizzard makes it easier and easier to get gold (e.g. easier to get epic gems using honor points). See, gold sellers are already desperate. Hey, maybe this is why this website has been hacked thrice already.
Wow players have been trying to live with these gold sellers using addons that filter gold spam, reporting them, and bashing them in trade channel. Sometimes they become annoying (e.g. 24/7 farmers, corpse advertisements) that kind of destroy the World of Warcraft-ness of the game. We can adopt all we want and try our best to report these annoyances but one thing’s for sure: these gold sellers will never go away!
Using Google’s Advanced Search Query
I’m pretty sure you’ve found good material while browsing in mmo-champ, wowhead, wow.com, or the blizzard forums. And then, you forget to bookmark it for some reason (e.g. boss aggro), and you have no idea how to find that page again! The search in the website doesn’t seem to help you find it. You even forget how you arrived at that page in the first place!
In these troubled instances, Google will save you! For sure you remembered vaguely what the topic is all about. For instance, if you remember the topic is “arthas getting his ass kicked”, but the website search form isn’t giving you any results by searching “arthas getting his ass kicked”, you might want to try this google advanced search querie:
site:www.website.com [keyword/s]
If I was looking for arthas getting his ass kicked in mmo-champion, I’d type in google:
site:www.mmo-champion.com arthas getting his ass kicked
Hey, look what I got, a link where someone was talking about getting arthas’ ass kicked. That’s how accurate google’s advanced search querie can be.
How about how wow.com says something about Blizzard fails?
site:wow.com blizzard fail
gives you Authenticator Failure Revisited, Blizzard responds
When you finally find what you’re looking for, BOOK MARK IT! I suggest using delicious.com for your bookmarking needs.
Banned for Not Playing WoW? Lol
A friend just gave news that his account has been banned today for exploitation of the economy (the mostly used reason for banning people). What’s funny is that his subscription has been canceled already 4 months ago and has no intention of coming back to WoW. Well, now he can’t go back to WoW FOREVER! He never received a warning first in his wow lifetime. I guess the ban hammer just decided to slam on his face.
He’s the kind of person who plays around 2 hours a on a weekday and around 4 hours on weekends for raiding; your regular casual player. WoW suddenly got boring and so he decided to cancel his subscription. In his mind, Starcraft 2 is on its way anyway. Well, 4 months later, BAN HAMMER. Banned for what? Not playing World of Warcraft?
He’s currently contesting the ban. I’ll keep updating this post on what happens next. For now, don’t stop playing WoW!
Leatherworking Borean Leather Spreadsheet
Here’s a little trick leather workers do. They take advantage of the fact that leather working is not a popular profession to choose compared to Jewelcrafting. Add to that the horde of skinners going around sholazar basin all day (thanks farmers). Because of that, borean leather can go down really cheap. Leatherworkers turn these into Heavy Borean Leather or trade that for Arctic Fur.

Advantages of the Remote Auction House

Hello! In the outside world, I am a simple geologist... but in here, I am Valkorn, Defender of the Alliance.
So the Remote Auction House is currently on beta. Soon, when the beta is over, a subscription fee of $3/month is required to use the premium features. Will it be worth it? Let’s take a look at the advantages:
1. No more wasting time in front of the AH
- It gets tiring whenever you want to play the AH because you have to gather every item you want to sell from your numerous toons, and then send them to the bank alt where you waste time having a chit chat with Mr. Auctioneer. And after 30 minutes to an hour of fixing stuff, you realize the Wintergrasp battle is already over.
2. More time to actually play! (oops, unfortunately not allowed, thanks samuel and felica)
- You want to check your auction house while you raid? Not a problem. Buyout that good deal while you figure out how to not die in the Arthas fight. The Wintergrasp battle starts in 1 min, when someone shouts in trade channel that his very cheap items are posted in the AH. What do you do?! Open up your browser!
3. New Way of Cyberslacking!
- Bored at work? Do you miss playing World of Warcraft? Are you thinking about checking how your auctions are doing even just for a few minutes to get your mind off your very horrible office mate? Remote Auction House is the answer! Well, unless your IT department decides to block the website. Boo.
4. Farewell, W, A, S, D and Spacebar!
- One of the things I hate in playing the auction house is the effort to get all your expired mail from your mailbox, and then to the bank, and then to the auctioneer guy because your bags are full. Rinsing and repeating this process hurts the left hand. At least with the Remote Auction House all you have to use is your right hand, the dominant strong one all thanks to…. oh.
Can you guys of additional advantages that will make the additional $3/month worth it?
Remote Auction House

The Remote Auction House allows you to play the auction house as if you’re in-game. All you need is an access to the World of Warcraft Armory (pray the site isn’t blocked at work lol), or your Ipod/Iphone/Ipad. Currently, it is in Beta Phase, which means you will be able to test out ALL features. I suggest go ahead and test it out.
Creating Auctions
The best part about the remote auction house is the ability to post items that are in your bags, bank or mailbox. It does feel like the remote auction house is better than the one in-game; no more walking to your mailbox or your bank to obtain items before posting them.
Bidding/Buying out Auctions
Looking for that ultra rare epic BOE? With the Remote Auction House, you will be able to check for it every hour… EVEN AT WORK! It will be easier to spot cheap auctions and check out price trends.
Collecting Successful Auctions
You will also be able to harvest all gold form successful auctions without even pressing W,A,S,D and your spacebar several times before getting to the mailbox. All you have to do is click the CLAIM ALL GOLD button.
Can everyone participate in the beta?
All US realms are able to participate in the beta. I’m not sure with EU.
During the beta test, you are only able to do 25 transactions per day. Once live, the limit will be increased to 200. The bad news is, once the beta test is over, the premium features (creating auctions, bidding/buying out) will require you to pay $3/month for the Remote Auction House service. That additional $3/month made me cringe. Sigh, another project of Blizzard to ultimately control the World Economy.
