Here’s a little trick leather workers do. They take advantage of the fact that leather working is not a popular profession to choose compared to Jewelcrafting. Add to that the horde of skinners going around sholazar basin all day (thanks farmers). Because of that, borean leather can go down really cheap. Leatherworkers turn these into Heavy Borean Leather or trade that for Arctic Fur.

PostHeaderIcon Ebonweave, Spellweave, Moonshroud

These special cloths used to be extremely expensive, sometimes reaching 200+ gold each. Well, that was due to the 4 day cooldown it had before patch 3.3.3 hit. However, Blizzard has now removed the cooldown to make these special cloths, and as we know from experience, a removed profession cooldown will change prices drastically. Time to recalculate how to profit from ebonweave, spellweave and moonshroud.

Just a little review on what materials are needed to make these cloths:

Ebonweave – 10 frostweave cloth, 2 infinite dust, 2 Eternal Shadow

Spellweave – 10 frostweave cloth, 2 infinite dust, 2 Eternal Fire

Moonshroud – 10 frostweave cloth, 2 infinite dust, 2 Eternal Life

You could also buy bolt of imbued frostweave instead of 10 frostweave cloth and 2 infinite dust, but of course that may cost you more. I have used an excel file to determine how much profit there is in creating ebonweave, spellweave and moonshroud. In my server, and specialization not taken into account, ebonweave is the most profitable one to make.   With specialization, obviously, profit increases. This excel file will help you determine which cloth specialization will milk the cloth cow the most.

PostHeaderIcon Recalculating Crafting Flasks

Frost lotus and several other herbs (other than Lichbloom) took a plummet down the price drainage.   There used to always be a lack in supply in the herbs department. Now, the Auction House is screaming: “NO MORE HERBS”

Some individuals post 35 stacks of 20 of a certain herb at a time. Makes one wonder if there is a profession called gardening. How the hell do they get this huge amount of herbs. They do not seem to be running out of supply. I suspect a huge spike in gold farmers in every server.

Anyhow, the consequence of an overflowing supply of herbs is the great price drop. Ever since the increase in drop rate of frost lotus plus being able to trade frozen orb for frost lotus, its price plummeted down. Frost lotus, now at 9g each (at least on my server) is really dirt cheap compared to the 30-50 gold we’re so used to see from the start of WOTLK. Flasks, which used to be  a huge burden for the pockets of raiders, now costs so cheap people are also using it in the battlegrounds nowadays.

Cheap herbs and cheap flasks; it’s time to recalculate if crafting flasks is still profitable for the alchemist. The result: bad news.

If your proc ability is having a bad day, profit is very low. The only way to profit much from making flasks is to be lucky with procs. May the gods of procs be with you on this one. You can only earn a few hundred gold if the proc gods favor you, and if you can sell them all. It still gets you extra gold to help with the repair bills, but ultimately, that dream of buying a mechano-hog from crafting flasks is already blurry.

PostHeaderIcon Vendoring Jewelcrafting Greens

Crafting level 70 green gems and disenchanting them WAS the cash cow of Jewelcrafters and Enchanters. However, when patch 3.3 came, enchanting materials came like a plague. The AH became so full of enchanting materials it got a lot harder to profit from the crafting and disenchanting method. Besides, all players doing their random dungeons are also packed with their looted enchanting materials. What do the Jewelcrafters do now for extra profit? Vendoring the crafted greens!

While it’s not as profitable as it was before, this method still gives extra cash. This takes advantage of the cheapened gems and eternal earth (partly due to lack of profit from the crafting d/e method).

The tooltip on the picture on the left shows that vendoring this item gives you 3.14 gold, while disenchanting gives you an estimated 3.44g worth of enchanting materials. Instead of disenchanting it and troubling yourself into the terrible world of AH flooding and undercutting, might as well just vendor it for a quick buck!

I’ve also created an excel sheet to easily determine if you’re going to profit from buying the materials, crafting them and then selling it to the vendor. The worst part from using this method is the amount of time to craft all the greens. This will take some time to craft but you can always /afk while you craft the greens.

Here’s a spreadsheet for flasks. This, however, does not take into account profit you may gain from procs. Sometimes procs can be very unreliable so it is better to see if you can profit from crafting flasks even without procs. If you do get procs, then more profit for you!

If you see any problems with the spreadsheet, leave a comment.

Here’s a sheet for engineers to determine how much it’ll cost to invest on a Mechano-hog and then selling it in the AH for huge profit. However, this spreadsheet doesn’t take into account the deposit fee. For non-engineers, this is also good if you’re planning to make your mechano-hog from scratch.

I’ve included alternative ways of getting materials such as titanium bar and arctic fur. If you’re not going to use the alternative, then just replace the value of those you will ignore to “0″. Again, only replace values inside the yellow highlight.
