What to do with Shadow Crystal?

I received a question today asking what to do with a Shadow Crystal. In case you have no idea where this comes from, it’s one of the trash gems you can get when prospecting Cobalt or Saronite ores (See more on Prospecting). I call it a trash gem for it cannot be created into something which can be disenchanted. What’s worse is I get a lot of these when prospecting. Especially when you’re only buying Saronite Ore for prospecting, seeing these Shadow Crystal guys makes your bags want to throw up.
