Big stack or Small Stack?
Should you post items in singles, 2s, 5s, 10s, or 20s? The answer is, and most annoyingly, IT DEPENDS on the item. There is no one formula to make items sell faster. If there is, then everyone would be selling in stacks of 2s, or 5s, or 10s, etc. Some like it small, some like it big. Hmmm sounds like a porno title.
When thinking about selling in big stacks or small stack, I suggest putting yourself in the shoes of the customer. Would he/she be willing to buy more in singles or in bulk? Where will he/she use that item for? (A good tip is search the item you’re going to sell in wowhead then click the tab “Reagent For”)
For example, Infinite Dust, which is most often used for enchantments. Some enchantments don’t require much infinite dust such as enchant chest – super stats which requires 4 infinite dust (see more on Infinite Dust reagent for…). If I were the customer, I would buy the cheapest infinite dust in singles because I only need 4 anyway. But some enchantments require a lot like Enchant 2H Weapon – Massacre which requires 40 infinite dust. Honestly, some people will be lazy to buyout 40 infinite dust in singles. That’s a lot of pressing the buyout button and accept button if they don’t have the right addons. I have experienced selling stacks of infinite dust at a higher price than the singles and still got a buyer. So for infinite dust, you can sell in big stacks and in small stacks.
Another example would be relic of ulduar. In my experience, no one wants to buy relic of ulduar in small stacks. Why? My guess is people are just lazy. They’d rather buy stacks of 200 in a higher price than gather all the cheap relics until they can make a huge stack. Remember, you are also posting stacks for their convenience.
Another example would be dream shards. Your dream shard stacked in 20 would have a hard time getting a buyer. Most people will just buy dream shards in singles because according to Dreamshard Reagent For… most of the enchantments only require 1-4 dream shards. It would be like selling shoes to a customer who only needs 1 shoe even though you’re giving him 40% discounts if he buys 10 shoes. Most likely he won’t buy 10 shoes because he only needs 1!!!
