Auctionator
Around 3 days ago my World of Warcraft starts to crash whenever I use Auctioneer to scan. Pissed, I went to download Auctionator, a supposedly light substitute for Auctioneer. Here’s a review of what I think of the addon that reminds me of the Governator.
THE PROS
Lightweight
Loading Auctionator was a breeze. Rhyming with Governator definitely gave it a wrong impression of being a heavyweight pain in the ass. The time to load my bank alt really improved. When talking to the auctioneer guy, there was no more awkward moments where we stare at each other, waiting for the window to pop-up because auctioneer is loading.
Saved Search Queries
Ever got tired of typing “saronite ore” every now and then? Well, Auctionator saves your frequently used search items and saves it. The next time you want to search that item, just click “saronite ore”.
Shopping List
As a cherry on top, you can create your own shopping list, making it easier to scan for items you’re currently on the look out for. This feels a little girly to have.
Easy Buyout By stacks
I’ve always dreaded pressing the buyout button and clicking yes several times. In this example when you press buy, Auctionator is going to confirm how many stacks you want to buy of that price.
You: I want 4 stacks of 20 priced at 12g something…
Auctionator: You want it? I buy it! You got it!
I’m beginning to think Auctionator is the nanny Governator.
Easy Selling
It is possible to make categories of the items you sell and customize how many stacks of N (ex. 2s,4s,5s,20s) should it post. Now, in the sell tab, alt+click your item in your bag which you want to sell and it will automatically set the price according to your undercut configuration, and then just press “Creat Auction”.
I was amazed how it can identify the category of an item automatically. I made the categories ink and vellum and it rec0gnized how many stacks of 4s it should post for my snowfall ink and armor vellum III.
Did Someone Undercut Me?
Under the “More…” tab, there will be a list of the items that you posted. If you click on it, Auctionator will check if someone undercuts you. If no one undercuts you, it puts a check mark beside the item name. If someone did, it puts an X mark. I sort of have a check and x mark on the same item. I have no idea what that means.
Me: did someone undercut me in the something glyph?
Auctionator: Yes and no….
Me: WHAT?! This isn’t philosophy class!
Edit: The best part is you can check if your auctions got undercut. On the picture above, below that list is a button I have failed to include in the picture. Click it and it will give you the option to 1) Just Check Auctions (sees if someone undercuts you) and 2) Check and Cancel Auctions (cancels your undercut auctions automatically).
CONS
GREY SCREEN!
Remember the selling configuration page where you make categories and stuff? Whenever I first select it, I always get this grey-ish screen that I can’t click on anymore.
It requires me to close the window by opening the auctioneer configurations > sellings page again before I can finally do some configurations. It’s a little hassle but you’re not going to configure every now and then are you?
Is that Cheap?
What I really love about Auctioneer is having that % beside the item you search for so you know if the item is cheap or not. Auctionator comes with a scanner but it doesn’t display that % thing we all love. Or I just don’t know how to work with the Governator Auctionator. If you’re already really familiar with your server’s price then this lack of feature wouldn’t matter to you.
Quick Summary:
Auctionator is a great substitute for Auctioneer if you’re looking for a lightweight substitute. However, being a lightweight that it is, there’s no fancy stuff like Realtime Scan, Disenchant, Resale, etc. that come with Auctioneer. If you rarely use those gadgets and just want to do basic, action-packed, no-time-waster buy and sell, the Governator Auctionator is for you!
